I only had 3 hours sleep last night. Went to the Empower 2020 event early and got back home after lunch. I tried to sleep to rest but I can’t, it feels like my mind and my heart are having a celebration somewhere (talking about being Empowered); so I grab my laptop, brewed a coffee and now I am writing.
This post is about my Discipleship Journey, and I hope at the end of this post you were inspired and encouraged for making disciples. For some, I hope this can be a learning or perhaps you can discover something within you. After 10 months from my last Journey #2, finally I wrote a new one. This is my Faith Journey #3: Making Disciples. Lets Go!
We were attending Victory Church (Alabang) since somewhere 2011 but I only decided to connect on February 04, 2018 in Dasmariñas; it was a Victory Volunteer Weekend Day (I will write a separate post about this). Immediately, I was introduced to Kuya Paul Lacerna who did my 1-2-1 and later on became my Victory Group Leader.
Starting from the basics is a struggle. I remember our 1-2-1 chapter 1 while Kuya Paul explains to me about the Salvation, I was like talking to myself “Alam ko na yang Salvation, Sunday school pa lang inaaral na namin yan..” (may pride ka boy!? haha 😂 ) But Kuya Paul has just continued reaching me. Sending Bible verses almost everyday (which I’ve seen zoned before haha 😂 ), preaching the gospel and just being intentional of reaching me out -then finally I gave up. From the pride of “being familiar with the Word” to being humble, from being humble to having hunger, the continuing hunger of knowing Him to Him overflowing in my life, it feels like it just came naturally to share the gospel as well.
Fast forward January 2019 Breaking of the Fast, I was praying with our pastor and one of my prayers is to have my own Victory Group. But seriously, I was expecting it will happen after 8-10 months. But that same night, our pastor approached me again because he just met someone who is looking for a Victory Group to attend (talking about immediate). I was surprised (masaya with kaba) and I started to doubt myself “Kaya ko ba?”, “Porket ba may heart ka to share the good news qualified ka na?” and so on.
Fast forward after 5-6 months, 2 became 4, 8 to 12+ (tinalo mo ung 12 Disciples koya!? haha 🤣 ). But all of the sudden they just disappeared (kwento ko sayo kung open minded ka). And I started to doubt myself again “May mali ba ako?”, “Bakit nawala sila?” and so on. It took me a lot of prayers and soul healing, and then I started again.
I started again on how I was started, in 1-2-1. Discipleship is Relationship, and to build a Relationship it must be Intentional. Intentional like a family because Discipleship is 24/7. I am so excited and how I wish I can tell you more about these mighty men. They are now volunteering in the Comm Tech Ministry. And surely! They have their own story to tell.
Let me end with these points:
If you are a new leader and somehow there are doubts within you like mine. Let me encourage you in Mark 1:16, when Jesus saw Simon and Andrew and tell them to “Come, follow me”. You see, Jesus didn’t look for a leader because Jesus saw them as a leader. So don’t let things tell you on how you are qualified, know that you are qualified because of what Jesus did in the cross. And let Him validate that to you, your purpose everyday.
If you are an existing leader, may God Bless you more to become more fruitful. Stand firm and let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
May you (my reader), find pleasure in seeking Him each and every day.
You are Blessed. 💖
